Sojourner Truth [Sojourner Truth]
(c. 1797–1883) an African-American woman who was born a slave but ran away from her master in 1827 and became active in the campaigns to free slaves and to give women the same rights as men. Her name was used for the ↑NASASojourner vehicle on Mars.
